Testing of our products

We believe that everybody works hard for their money, and that you are entitled to get the best quality skincare products for your hard earned money. At Dermaxime we not only believe that we manufacture the best skincare range, but ensure that the highest standards of manufacture and laboratory practices are followed.

The CEO of the company, Michael A. Meyer, not only believes that skincare products must be effective, but that they must also be of the highest quality, purity and stability - to ensure that consumers have access to an affordable range of products, that are effective in the quest to keep looking younger for longer.

Some cosmetic and skincare manufacturers would include an active ingredient at such low concentration that it has no positive effect on the skin, yet they are legally entitled to claim that the ingredient/s are present in the product.

It is the standard at Dermaxime that active ingredients are included at ratios that will assist the skin to look better - and no ingredient is ever included at an ineffective ratio, simply to claim it as an ingredient on the label, because we see that as dishonest and an insult to the consumer.

Many "local legends" abound on the Internet regarding cosmetic ingredients, yet they are sometimes a gross over-simplification of the fact, or taken totally out of context. We believe that all consumers have the right to know what ingredients are included in a product, and for this reason we have listed the complete list of ingredients on every product page.

Skincare products - testing the best

The highest level of GMP manufacture and microbiological analysis and stability studies are in accordance with GMP, to ensure that it complies and exceeds all relevant international standards.

All raw materials used by Dermaxime, which are sourced from all over the world, are tested in accordance to the USP and BP standard, before they are used in the manufacturing process.

After manufacture, all products are subjected to stability testing. In addition, we further perform a challenge test in accordance with the USP NF 23 Microbiological Tests <51> Anti-microbial Effectiveness Test.

The last mentioned test is conducted wherein the products are loaded with a known concentration of five different micro-organisms viz. Candidia albicans, Aspergillus niger, E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Samples are then taken weekly over a period of 28 days and the percentage kill is monitored and has to comply with the following set-down standards:

• The concentration of viable bacteria are reduced to not more than 0.1% of the initial concentration by the 14th day

• The concentration of viable yeasts and moulds remain at or below the initial concentration during the first 14 days.

• The concentration of each test micro-organism remains at or below these designated levels during the reminder of the 14 day period.

This is to ensure that the product is well-preserved and stable, and is done to maintain product integrity during its entire shelf life. This test is important to us, since we believe that the minimum amount of preservatives must be used, in order to keep the product as natural as possible, yet we need to ensure that the product will not go off or become unstable.

After manufacture the products also undergo tests for Total Viable Count and Limit Tests.

Although our testing might be a bit excessive, we do believe that you are entitled to the best possible skincare products that we can produce, and having all these tests in place, ensures that our products are consistently of superior quality and purity.
