Compounds found in black mud improve skin smoothness

This mud is made up of finely dispersed hydrated organic multi-component colloid of fresh water sediments from over 30,000 years ago and is collected from two freshwater lakes in Eastern Europe (Bellaruss).

It has its black color due to undergoing massive decomposition and oxidation for all the years that is has been compressed at the bottom of the lake.

It contains:

  • Humic acid
  • Carbohydrates
  • Nitrogen
  • Free fatty acids

From the graph below you can compare the ingredients and the different types of mud.

Cosmetic benefits of black mud improve skin smoothness

It is worth to note that our black mud contains the highest amounts of organic material and the smallest amount of inorganic material.

Humic acid provides hydrogen bonding and has a chelating action – thereby bonding to heavy metals which are often found in our everyday environmental pollution - and have been found to promote the transformation of epidermal cells REF 394 and also has excellent free-radical scavenging ability – this helps to prevent premature aging from damage caused by free radicals. REF 395 406

Our black mud is also the smoothest mud of all, since there is no evidence of crystalline structures, which is due to the fact that it consist mostly of decomposed organic material.

From all the muds it also has the best moisturizing rate on the skin and also positively affects the skin surface by making it more even and smooth, as can be seen in the photos below.

It also positively affects over-production of sebum (oil) in the skin and brings it back into balance – so while reducing excessive oil, it simultaneously improves the moisture and hydration of the skin.

Apart from that, it also boosts the cell turnover in the skin, which leads to far younger looking skin.
