Daily Skincare Regimen for a young, healthy and vital looking skin

The quest for a flawless and ageless skin is unfortunately not as simple as just buying a single cream or lotion, and then having a miraculous overnight change to your skin. Good skincare and the resultant smooth and vital looking skin, is a daily ritual that must be followed by both men and women to keep on looking their best for the longest possible time.

General

Some people like to take the easy way out, and blame bad genes for their lack of a vitally healthy skin – and although good genes can help you age better than your next-door neighbor, it is not the only deciding factor on how well you age.

Nutrition also plays a part, as malnutrition will manifest in a poor quality skin and facial tone – but once again – it is not the only factor determining and influencing the aging of your skin.

The three steps young healthy vital looking skin

Old wisdom states that a good skincare regimen stands on three pillars – that being:

  • Cleansing
  • Toning
  • Moisturizing

Although this statement does have a lot of merit, new developments in skin care treatments have expanded this basic concept of a good skincare regimen.

Cleansing young healthy vital looking skin

In years gone by – people normally used ‘cold-creams’ to remove make-up. This was required, as make-up was based on oily and greasy formulations, and this required a “greasy” type of cleanser to help emulsify the make-up and so remove it from the skin.

This however left the skin greasy and oily, and for that reason, toners were formulated to again dissolve the oily residue left behind from the ‘cleansing-creams’.

That is the reason why people normally applied these alcohol toners to cotton wool, and kept on wiping their faces until the ball came away clear of any residue. This practice was all right to remove the oily residue, but the alcohol again caused the skin to be overly dry, and then had to be balanced by creams to banish the dryness.

This has all changed with modern make-up, and oil based cleansers are no longer needed to remove make-up – and even heavy stage make-up can be easily removed with modern cleansers.

There is an old-wife’s tale that cleansing creams and cleansing lotions are less drying than face washes – and that is exactly what it is – an old wife’s tale.

Modern formulations are made into products that can easily be rinsed off, without drying or damaging the skin – and here our Rejuvenating Face Wash is a shining example of a super-effective cleanser. It does not dry the skin, and can even be used on the most aged and fragile skin.

Toning young healthy vital looking skin

As mentioned above, old-fashioned toners, with a high alcohol content were used to clear the skin from oily cleanser residue, but these types of toners/astringents are no longer needed.

Toners also helped to rebalance the pH of the skin, since overly acidic or overly alkaline cleansers could upset the normal pH of the skin – leaving it open to infection and a host of other problems.

If a facial cleanser is properly formulated it should not upset the pH balance of the skin, and although a toner may then not be necessary to balance the acid/alkaline level of the skin, it can help to have an astringent effect on the skin – closing and refining pores.

Moisturizing young healthy vital looking skin

After cleansing and toning comes the nourishing and treatment of the skin. In earlier days, the moisturizer mostly contained an occlusive agent – to prevent water loss, or a humectant, to attract moisture to the skin.

These were relatively basic formulations, and moisturizing creams can now contain a host of specialized ingredients that not only prevent moisture loss – without forming an occlusive layer and working on the Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) in the skin as well as having a direct influence on the working and manufacturing of keramides and NMF – which directly influence the skin enzymes that work toward keeping the skin moisturized.

Specialized creams young healthy vital looking skin

Nowadays consumers have a range of ingredients to choose from, contained in the cream or serum that they buy – which can help the skin produce more collagen, reduce wrinkle depth, produce more elastin and boost the fibroblast, preventing DNA degradation, protecting the cells from free radical damage etc.

Creams are also available for various and specialized areas of the skin – be that a cream for the eyes to help with puffiness and dark rings and preventing crows’s feet or a neck cream minimizing a turtle-neck look.

Summary young healthy vital looking skin

Although the basics may have stayed more-or-less the same – modern consumers now have access to far more hi-tech creams, lotions and potions to keep the ravages of aging at bay.

The days are also long gone where the use of skin care cosmetics were the exclusive domain of women alone – and putting the metro-sexual man aside – normal everyday guys are also looking after their skin – as a younger vital looking person is just so much more in tune with modern day requirements of proper grooming for both men and women.

For this reason – our Dermaxime range of products is formulated for both men and women – and people from different ethnic backgrounds, can enjoy the same benefit of all our specialized hi-tech peptides and botanical ingredients.
