Elastin information

Elastin is a fibrous protein of the connective tissue originating from the fibroblasts.

Unlike collagen, the elastic fibers are thinner, from 1 to 3 Tm in diameter but thicker in the lower dermis where they lie parallel to the cutaneous surface, becoming thinner as they approach the epidermis.

Elastin helps skin to return to its original position when pressed or pulled.
