As skin cells age and die off, they have to shed from the skin in order for the skin to appear radiant, youthful and vital. Should an unnatural accumulation of dead cells persist on the skin, this will make the skin look dull, sallow and unhealthy. To combat this, a regular exfoliating facial scrub, done correctly with a good product, will prevent this problem and leave your skin glowingly healthy.

Skin cells are formed in the basal layers of the skin and migrate upwards, in a natural progression, towards the top of the skin, where they die and eventually shed. It does however happen that these dead skin cells do not shed properly, or only shed partially.
In order to promote the youngest looking skin, you need to remove these excess dead skin cells, as they no longer perform any function - and only make your skin appear dull, lifeless and sallow.
Although skin exfoliation - scrubbing - should be done at regular intervals to ensure optimum skin health and beauty, it should however not be overdone, or done with any medium or scrub that will harm the skin in any way.
Removing dead skin cells is beneficial to your skin - but scouring off the dead cells and harming the skin, is to be avoided.
Some facial scrubs are either too acidic or alkaline - or the mechanical scrubbing particles are too rough for the texture of the skin.
A person must look for a happy medium - where the face scrub - or exfoliant - is made from smooth, small gauged particles that will not damage the skin, while manually removing the dead skin cells.
A good facial product should contain a non-abrasive component - such as our papaya extract - which will gently assist in the removal of dead skin cells.
Apart from removing dead skin cells, a gentle exfoliation of the skin will also positively help to create a smoother and finer skin texture, as well as reduce pore size - when used over an extended period of time.
The formulation instruction to our research and development team was clear - we were looking for an effective, yet safe and gentle scrub - that will remove dead skin cells without causing any damage whatsoever to the skin.

Rosehip seed powder | |
We use finely and smoothly grounded power from rosehip seeds to form a natural exfoliating medium in our Rejuvenating Face Scrub.
This seed power provides gentle removal of dead skin cells, without causing any injury to the skin, as it has no sharp edges. | |
Apricot seed powder | |
The apricot kernel powder is compatible with anionic and cationic surfactants, is non ionic and helps to promote a clear skin,
removing impurities and has a pleasant odor.
This is a "skin-friendly" natural exfoliant (face scrub), when finely and evenly ground, and acts as a mild abrasive, gently exfoliating the skin without any scraping or damage.
It breaks down into round particles when used - without harming or damaging the skin.
For this reason it does not cause any micro-wounds or minor scrapes while removing dead cells from the skin. | |
Pineapple extract | |
The extract of pineapple will promote skin elasticity while removing damaged and dead cells from the skin. It also helps to improve moisture and hydration of the skin and a clear complexion.
The various ingredients, including the enzymes found in pineapple, are the reason for these actions.

This extract contains papain enzyme, which is excellent to help clear up skin problems, and is medically used on burn wounds, as well as on wounds where the tissue has died off.

Cranberry | |
The tocotrienols contained in cranberry are very nourishing and have a moisturizing effect. They have great anti-oxidant properties and help protect the skin from stress caused by sunlight.
The omega oils contained in cranberry help to moisturize the skin, while at the same time, reduce inflammation and strengthen the skin.
Apart from nourishing the skin, cranberry helps to improve moisture retention and increases skin smoothness. Skin elasticity and suppleness are improved as well as the collagen and elastin fibers. | |
Centella | |
This botanical extract has a very positive effect on increasing circulation in the skin, as well as assisting with the proper functioning and formation of collagen, by modulating the action of the fibroblast.

Horse Chestnut | |
This extract has a direct influence on improving the health of veins and capillaries in the skin, which in turn leads to proper circulation and maximum skin functioning.
It has a strengthening effect on the venous system, preventing capillary fragility – which could result in leaking, causing edema (water retention) within the skin, which in turn leads to an uneven looking skin.
Apart from this, it inhibits collagenase and elastase in the skin – and therefore leads to a healthier collagen and supportive skin structure.
This in turn results in a healthier younger looking skin, while at the same time fights inflammatory conditions, which if left unchecked, could lead to premature aging. | |
Jojoba | |
This golden liquid ester readily penetrates the skin, as it has a natural affinity to the skin, helping to minimize fine lines and wrinkles, promoting skin suppleness, while assisting in the rejuvenation of the skin.
It furthermore helps to balance the secretion of sebum (oil) of the skin, while preventing skin dehydration. When absorbed by the skin, it softens the tissue and increases elasticity and promotes smoothness of the skin.
The tocopherols contained are great free radical scavengers and they prevent oxidative stress and with this, help prevent premature aging of the skin. | |
Green Tea | |

- Cleanse the skin with Dermaxime Rejuvenating Face Wash.
- Place a small amount of the Rejuvenating Face Scrub on tips of fingers, and gently massage the entire face and neck area in small circular movements, without undue pressure and avoiding the eye and lip area.
- Leave on the skin for 5 - 7 minutes and then rinse with tepid water, dry the face and apply moisturizer.
- The Rejuvenating Face Scrub can be used every 2 - 3 weeks. In extreme cases use weekly.
